Going Green for Your St. Patty’s Day Wedding

Spring is almost upon us and so is wedding season, and since it is St Patty’s Day this coming weekend, why not stick with the theme of green.  Charlotte DJ & Events is not talking about the color green but rather trying to be more environmentally conscious with your wedding.

Today, we are going to give you a few tips on how to make your wedding more eco-friendly.

  1. Something really simple that you can do to make your event more eco-friendly is to use paperless invitations. Not only will you save more “green” but it is also  better for the environment.    Try creating an e-card for your guest. Not only is it quick and easy, but you can save money on stamps as well.  The only minor issue is: you might have to remind some of your guests to RSVP.

  2. Another option in making your wedding green  is to buy locally grown as well as organic foods.  Although you might think it is more expensive to buy from a local grower, the money you have saved in other ways ends up being about the same.  Here are some places that you can stay “green” while shopping at: Whole Foods, The Fresh Market, or Earth Fare.

  3. Rings!!  You got to have them, so why not try something non-traditional like having wooden bands or using recycled gold to make your wedding rings.  For more information about green wedding rings or if your interested in purchasing one take a look at this website: Organic Rings

  4. Our last tip is all about your wedding décor.  Here are a few suggestions to consider:

Find a florist who recycles packaging & uses locally grown flowers

Why not use beeswax or soy-based candles over those made with paraffin (oil by-product). Beeswax and soy-based candles are better because they will burn longer, and they will not put off as much smoke or soot when using them.

Arrange for decorations to be moved from the ceremony to the reception if you have to separate sites. This will cut down on your purchases. Why double up on decorations if you  don’t have to?
